I recently attended a funeral of a very young friend and the way they prepared her or rather DIDN'T prepare her was an atrocity!!!! It makes me sick just thinking back on the careless way it was handled. She looked as though she had a full body bruise and she was in an awkward, unnatural position. She's always had thee most lovely, full and thick, beautiful hair and it looked like they had put a cheap wig on her! The makeup the slopped on was unnatural and ENTIRELY TRANSPARENT! I'm APPAULED for her legacy and her family! She wasn't ill, there was absolutely NO REASON for her to look as she did! AVOID this disservice being done to your loved ones!!!!

My father passed in January, 2024. He had made arrangements and paid for the funeral about 12 years prior to his passing. He made the arrangements through Colyer Funeral Home. Hunter at Colyer Funeral Home was outstanding to work with and made the arrangements very smooth. I could not recommend Colyer Funeral Home more. Thank you for the outstanding work during this difficult time.

How honors are coordinated

Military funeral honors are guaranteed at no cost for any veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
