What families have said

Our family does have an affinity for Chapel Hill Gardens West, being former Lombardian's we have 3 generations of family members buried here. My Father's funeral service and interment was here on March 13th, and it was PERFECT! I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to make the day a special one. We met with Alicia Jacklin and Jacqueline Fuentes, they're both wonderful and fantastic! They're so nice and compassionate and they took extra time to help us coordinate and make prefuneral decisions and plans. Deacon Roger Novak helped preside over the funeral, delivering the eulogy and committal service, and no pun intended, he's a true blessing! We spoke the night before the funeral and I provided some insight into my Dad's life. Deacon Roger Novak's eulogy was PERFECT!! It was as if he grew up with my Father and knew him inside and out, there were a few tears and some laughter:) Thank you Deacon Roger Novak. I also want to thank Ashley, who was the acting Funeral Director the day of the funeral, she's so sweet and patient and made sure everything ran smoothly for our family and guests, we greatly appreciate it. I'd also like to thank the young man Michael who was at the front desk the day of the funeral, he's really a nice guy, we chatted about the history of Chapel Hill Gardens West, and I discovered that he coordinated my friends Dad's funeral here in February. Once again, I want to thank EVERYONE for making the day perfect, and I highly recommend Chapel Hill Gardens West, sincerely, John Piotter.

Debra was excellent in handling our situation of getting the grave sight ready for my mother. She went out in the snow and very low temperatures ( 10 ) degrees to take pictures of the sight to insure the correct location and e mailed to us. I felt see did go out of her way to coordinate all aspects for the burial. John

The staff at Chapel Hill Gardens was very kind and understanding in my time of grief.

While visiting my father and son's gravesites this week and walking around, we were dismayed to see how so many of the grave markers are not being taken care of in regard to weeds, debris and garbage overtaking the grave markers. The grounds are mowed well, but the groundskeepers really should be weed whacking around the grave markers so they're not all covered by weeds. Also, my father and son's graves are by a line of hedges and garbage and heavy sticks always accumulate there. Every time we visit, we have to clean up this area. Photos attached of some of the grave markers we saw as well as garbage by the hedges.

How honors are coordinated

The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
