“I give high praise to Cage Memorial. In 2023 they handled my mother's funeral service, navigating a complex process. She lived in Atlanta, GA with a family member, until her death. Then we had her remains sent back to Chicago for interment. Cage Memorial worked with a local Atlanta funeral home to bring our mother home to Chicago and then arrange the usual and customary funeral arrangements. They were patient in dealing with our small family and navigating the requests of the three family members involved in making the arrangements. In 2025 our family decided to move our grandmother from a remote south side Chicago cemetary to the same location as her children. Yet again, this was a complex process, requiring special permits from the city and coordinating with the original cemetary to move our grandmother. These transfers only take place May to September, just to complicate things even further. Cage was so professional in their handling of the challenges in this process. They kept things simple for the family who do not live in Chicago, communicating via text, email and offering digital documents for signature. The family couldn't be there on the day of transfer, but Cage kindly took photos of the procedure. I have the highest regard for Cage Memorial and recommend them for you funerary needs. The quality of care and value of their service was high.”
“At one of the worst times in my existence, Mr. & Mrs. Criswell and the staff at Cage Memorial were a blessing to my soul. The loss of one’s beloved Mother can be one of the hardest, heaviest burdens to bear but the Criswells made it better. From our initial contact, to assistance with burial decisions, to how absolutely amazing my Mother looked, to help with moving my Father from Mt. Hope to Abraham Lincoln Cemetery so Mommy and Daddy could rest TOGETHER, The Criswells from Cage were ON POINT! I cannot say enough great things about them. That is the gist of my experience and my story is a long one but if you’d like to know more please allow me the space and grace to provide some details. We have always been an A.R. Leak family since the early 1970s, so when the hospice nurse asked soon after Mommy passed, naturally, Leak rolled off my tongue. Several of my cousins had come to Ingalls’ Hospice to just be with Mommy and I at that time and as I walked the halls gathering them back and forth, something said to me, “No, call Angie.” I asked the hospice nurse if she’d reached out to the funeral home yet because I’d changed my mind and wanted to call Cage Memorial Chapel instead. Angie is a play cousin, (y’all know we all have them), and had worked with Mr. Cage for many, many years. When I called and informed her that Mommy had passed on to the next plane she said it would all be okay, and have mercy, it was. Can we just take a moment to reflect on how absolutely wonderful my Mother looked? Listen, anyone who has ever buried a loved one is always super anxious about how their loved one will look. Seriously, even friends I’ve spoken to who had their loved one cremated, (they view the body first), have had the same anxiety and if things were not right, there was an issue. This is one of the most difficult aspects of the entire ordeal. All of my many cousins were either working or incapable of joining me so on the day of the viewing I’d asked one of my deceased Brother’s best girlfriends to accompany me and she said she’d be honored. When we walked in we were both in shock and disbelief. Mommy looked 10 years younger than her 85 years. It was truly amazing. I will forever be grateful to and a supporter of Cage and The Criswell family for this reason alone. BUT there is more to my story. Lastly, I had problems with Mount Hope Cemetery from start to finish. (You can read that review later) Mr. Criswell was Johnny on the spot with that too. After receiving an outlandish quote from Mount Hope to bury my parents together in the same crypt AND being told they could not be buried in the same grave, I decided to have them both buried at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where veterans and their spouses can be buried together in the same plot. Mr. Criswell from Cage Memorial sprung into action and handled ALL of the details including disinterring and transporting my Daddy. Mr. Criswell also made sure to get me on a 3-way call with Mount Hope so I would know exactly how much it would cost to disinter and transport Daddy. Later, when Mount Hope changed their quote to me at the zero hour, Mr. Criswell from Cage was just as livid as my family and I were and insisted that they honor the quote they had previously made. When Mount Hope refused, he provided advice and suggestions on how to proceed. In other words, Cage went above and beyond even what I’d expected and held me down every step of the process. If anyone ever asks me (and I know they will), I will always recommend Cage to meet and exceed expectations. Do not hesitate to give them your business and trust them with your loved ones. I am very happy and satisfied that I did.”
“I want to thank Cage Funeral Home for providing a beautiful homegoing service for my beautiful Aunt and being there in my family's time of need. She was very beautiful and looked so natural. The staff was very compassionate, caring and professional. The funeral home is very beautiful. Appreciate your services.”
“The professionalism from the director Roland and his wife Bethany was exemplary. Though visiting this business is extremely hard on any family, their comforting words guiding my family through the process was heartfelt and important. This experience was a first for me and my siblings, but with Cage's direction it was a seamless process. We were extremely pleased with how our mother was presented. Thank you.”
“Cage Memorial Chapel was absolutely wonderful in assisting my mom and I with the funeral arrangements for our loved one. From the time we entered Cage facility we were greeted by Mr. Augustus Cage with a warm smile and gave his condolences. He also talked with us and had a wonderful sense of humor. Through the process, the funeral director, Mrs. Diane Moseley, was very comforting and she went through the process with us thoroughly. Any questions that we had she was very knowledgeable in answering them. Mrs. Moseley even assisted us in some documentations that we needed to close out our loved one's personal business with no hesitation. Cage Memorial Chapel fulfilled the wishes of our beloved loved one and went beyond what we expected. We were absolutely pleased with everything.”
