VA burial benefits
VA burial benefits are the same in New London as anywhere else.
VA burial benefits are federal, so they don't depend on where in Ohio the family lives. For a non-service-connected death on or after October 1, 2026, VA pays up to $1,032 toward burial and funeral costs and $1,032 for a plot; for a service-connected death on or after September 11, 2001, the burial allowance is up to $2,000. The family claims the allowance with VA Form 21P-530EZ.
To schedule a burial in a VA national cemetery, the funeral home or the family calls the National Cemetery Scheduling Office at 800-535-1117. State and tribal veterans cemeteries schedule their own burials, so call the cemetery. For questions about benefits, call VA at 800-827-1000. Our VA burial benefits guide explains who qualifies.
