Nathaniel and the entire staff at Watkins Cooper Lyon took great care of our family in our time of need. All of our wishes and requests were met with understanding and kindness. My father's service was handled with the utmost respect and care. We are eternally grateful for the attention they gave us in such a difficult time and handled it all with skill and caring hearts.

Although the thought of dealing with a funeral brings that overwhelming feeling of sadness, the staff of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home made our experience as painless as possible. My brother and I were treated with respect and consideration, and we were made to feel very comfortable as we navigated through difficult decisions. Our mother was almost 101 years old, and I was very concerned about her appearance at the funeral. I had originally decided that I would not view her body, but in the end I did, and I will be forever grateful to Nathaniel for making my mother look like the beautiful woman she used to be. I highly recommend WCLFH.

Nathaniel and Elizabeth of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home were very professional and helpful and very patient in answering all of our questions. They were genuinely empathetic and kind. Elizabeth did an excellent job of putting together brochures with pictures depicting Alston's life. I highly recommend them in every way.

Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home was invaluable to me after my mom passed. I had no idea what to do. They took me by the hand and helped me navigate this difficult time from obtaining death certificates, contacting social security, helping with funeral arrangements - just so much. They were so kind, professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Watkins Cooper Lyon when the time comes. My mom had paid for everything ahead of time with their help which made this journey easier. I plan to do the same for my children knowing what I have experienced. I cannot thank them enough!!!.

How honors are coordinated

Military funeral honors are guaranteed at no cost for any veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
