“I first want to state I've worked for a funeral home (serves 675-800 families a year) for 10 years. Never in that time have I experienced such unprofessionalism as I did at Vaia. Our beloved aunt was there for her pre-arranged services. From the moment we saw her we were appalled at what they had done to this beautiful lady. Honestly, she looked like a chipmunk. Big puffy cheeks & protruding mouth. Absolutely nothing like when she had died. They had her sitting up on several pillows, looking very unnatural. What a terrible way to remember our loved one. The embalmer should be fired. When we arrived for services, Mr. Vaia was dressed in pants, a polo shirt and casual shoes. His staff looked more professional than he did. The whole experience was terrible. We felt rushed to get the service over and leave. Then I saw what they charged for their services. I was even more angry. Good advice and caring is what should be the first standard when giving funeral service care. Somehow they need to reevaluate the actual business they are providing.”
“My experience was atrocious. A close friend made his arrangements in person over a year before his death. He paid for several days of viewing, transport to church, and a graveside service. His estranged children had everything changed. He was a strong catholic that believed that his soul would be affected by how his funeral and burial were handled. It should be the responsibility of the director to explain that your family members can disregard your wishes following your death. Apparently there is wording that can be added to ensure no changes are made to the contract which he was not made aware of. This facility let him down in every way possible. The director did not treat mourners with any respect.”
“My husband died unexpectedly a year ago. The Vaia Family went above and beyond my expectations with their kindness, compassion, gentleness and attention to detail. They made the most unbearable time a little less so. Three days ago was the anniversary of his death. A single rose with some greenery in a vase was delivered to me with a card saying that they remembered and hope I am doing OK. I am so grateful!”
“Vaia Funeral home is top notch. Both my parents and more recent, my father in law had their viewings here. The place is very well maintained and the director, Flash, was very professional and guided us through the viewing and the burial process. My husband and I will definitely pre plan our final wishes with Vaia.”
“Recently I was at a funeral at Vaia Funeral Home in Delmont. I couldn't believe the treatment that the funeral director gave to my family. I walked into the building and the director was sitting in the office while his secretary was working. He YELLS out from the office "Can I help you? Never gets up off the chair nor tells me what direction to find my family. I found my relatives. They were upset of course of the passing of their wife/mother. The director came into the viewing room to give my cousin a bill. What timing!! The viewing started at 10 am. The director comes in at 10:40 to ask my family if they were ready or did they need 5 more mins. The family didn't say anything due to feeling numb. The director then says " If you leave now or in 5 minutes your going to still feel the same!! REALLY????? How ignorant!! He comes back in 5 minutes to make us leave. It was so obvious that he did not want to be there. We went to the grave site. They brought my cousins wife down in some vehicle that wasn't a regular hearse it actually looked like an SUV and she was riding in the back . Then it was over. It was less than 1 hour for all of this. I called other funeral homes and asked what there protocol was due to the Covid -19 virus. Everyone of them could not believe the amount time that was given to this family. My cousin DID NOT request this setup. He was TOLD by the funeral director that this is how it's going to be!!! I cannot explain the rage that I have towards this director and the treatment that was he gave towards my family! They sure didn't give an hour price tag though!!! What a HORRIBLE way to take advantage of a family! I tell EVERYONE that I can about the treatment and the arrogance of this director from this funeral home! If the rating stars above had a negative sign in front of them, that is how I would rate this Vaia funeral home!”
