Stoess Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements for my uncle's service, and I cannot express enough gratitude for their exceptional care and professionalism during a difficult time. From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was taken care of with sensitivity and compassion. One particular challenge arose during the planning process involving another family member, but the team at Stoess Funeral Home handled it with grace and diplomacy, allowing us to focus on honoring our loved one and supporting each other through our grief. Their ability to navigate such situations speaks volumes about their dedication to providing a peaceful and respectful atmosphere for all families they serve. The service itself was flawlessly executed, thanks to the meticulous attention to detail and genuine empathy displayed by the staff. Every aspect, from the arrangement of flowers to the coordination of the ceremony, was carried out with the utmost care and respect for our wishes. Thanks to Stoess Funeral Home, my family was able to find solace in coming together to celebrate the life of our uncle, knowing that every aspect of his farewell was handled with dignity and respect. I cannot recommend Stoess Funeral Home highly enough to anyone in need of compassionate and professional funeral services. Their dedication to supporting families during their time of need truly sets them apart.

Kendall was wonderful to work with during this heart breaking time of loss. Kendall was very compassionate and professional with everything we had to do during the planning of the funeral. She was responsive to our questions and clarifying the arrangements. Kendall also arranged to have the Air Force perform Taps and the American Flag Ceremony at the grave site. We appreciate the attention to details, from the obituary to the burial service during this grievous time for our family.

My father passed on 3/1/24. Our family has used Stoess' in the past and we're pleased with the service we were given in 2003 and 2006. However this experience in 2024 was not a good one. Our FD was Kendall. I felt she was very unprofessional after she had the contract signed by my mother for the money. After Mom was locked in with Kendall for what I consider a decent amount of money her attitude completely switched to one of we were working for her not the other way around. There was a situation regarding scheduling that we couldn't make happen with the time frame and we asked to change limos for a hearce. When I called, Kendall balked and said because we hadn't given more than a 24 hour notice there was probably going to be a cancellation fee. Her tone was very condescending. Again, she was working for OUR family. Upon her arrival at the church she chastised me while standing outside the church and said, I told you all not to be here until 12:30." We can't get him ready until then." We didn't bother her or her staff we just needed to get my mom in to a seat due to her physical condition and we went to the lobby. Again, you were working for us. We were supposed to have carnations for the pallbearers....didn't happen. She was supposed to take 2 stand up wreaths to the cemetery the next day with my dad at burial. Didn't happen. She said my mom told her not to. I asked mom and she said she never told her that. And to add the final insult to injury when we got the bag out to write thank you notes there were none in the bag. I called Kendall and asked about it and she again argued and said the bags are premade and they were in the bag. She didn't offer anything else. We never got them and I bought some from the store. Kendall has made a bad situation worse. We won't be using Stoess again. Certainly not the service we received before.

I have had family go to Stoess for generations. I am beyond disappointed. My niece took her mom there, I donated $500 the night of the visit and it seems the deep pocket son of the owner tucked my money away never to be seen again. Years later they still have not figured it out and are still harassing my niece for money she does not owe them. This is not the only payment that suddenly doesn’t exist. Seems to happen all the time there. Greedy, untrustworthy, and a disgrace to the name that once meant something in Crestwood. You can’t call and get a straight answer even from the owner. She has a bad attitude and a this is your problem not mine approach. She and her son are in the wrong industry. Disgusting. Taking advantage of people who are in the worst days of their lives! Think twice before you use them, even if memaw and papaw went there. It’s not the place it used to be! A DISGRACE

Kendall Compton was very unprofessionally, trying to escort people off the property as soon as they arrived, not knowing what was going on, was unable to see and visit or pay my last respects to my brother due to a restraining order, someone has out against me and they were there. I did not know that they were there because I am blood family, and they was not but still Miss Compton could’ve explained that the person was there and could have negotiated times where they could have myself to see my brother, when the person who has that order against me wasn’t there and then also time for me to leave when the other person could see and visit? It could’ve all been worked out Miss Compton did her job very unprofessionally, and very rude and because of this matter, I was unable to visit or pay my last respects was threatened that she was going to escort me off the property and call the police Instead of that happening, I walked out myself and left. No one had to escort me anywhere therefore call the police on me, walked in, not knowing what was going on, not knowing that the other party was there. By far the worst funeral home staff I’ve ever seen and been around in my life if I could, they would’ve got no stars

How honors are coordinated

Military funeral honors are guaranteed at no cost for any veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
