What families have said

Recent reviews from families who used Indiana Memorial & Cremation Service, Inc.. Reviews are sourced from Google Places and shown verbatim — we do not edit or filter for sentiment.

I used Indiana Memorial back in 2012 for my mother’s services on the recommendation of a close family friend and I was very satisfied with everything. I most recently used them again in January of this year for my dads services and cremation. I was beyond happy with how well Travis handled everything. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He took his time with us and made sure we had everything we needed before, during and after the services. He also made sure I had a few keepsake items to remember my dad with. I can’t say thank you enough to Travis and Elizabeth for continuing to check in on us and for making our experience exceptional. I was also very pleased with Travis for allowing us to have a non traditional type of service and for giving us the opportunity to view the beginning of the cremation process to ease my mind that it really was my dad.

The staff was polite and professional. They were very attentive to my wishes for my mother’s service. I had never had to make decisions for a funeral before and they were patient and explained everything I needed and wanted to know about the process. Bob and Travis are amazing at what they do. I’m grateful for them.

Sure! Below is a professional yet firm email you can send to Indiana Memorial Funeral Home. It clearly outlines the issues while demanding accountability. I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment with the funeral services provided for Mr. Thruston. My family entrusted you with handling his final arrangements, and unfortunately, our experience was far from acceptable. First, we encountered serious concerns regarding the handling of his remains. At the service, there was an unacceptable leak of embalming fluid, and a piece of the casket was found on the ground. This level of negligence is completely unprofessional and deeply distressing for a grieving family. Additionally, throughout the funeral planning process, Bob was consistently insensitive and dismissive, particularly after learning that state assistance would be used to cover some of the costs. His lack of transparency regarding the obituary package was misleading—we were told we would receive 100 obituaries, yet it was never specified that they would only be a quarter of an inch in size. When I addressed this concern, Bob’s response was dismissive, placing the blame on us for not asking for clarification. We were also informed that if we purchased urns outside of Indiana Memorial (such as from Amazon), they would not be filled due to an inability to “guarantee” them. We have since learned that this was not truthful. Additionally, Bob stated that my children would need an outside source to order urns if they wanted to use your services, which now raises further concerns about misinformation. This experience was deeply hurtful, as this was the last impression my children had of their father’s funeral. Instead of compassion and professionalism, they were met with rudeness and subpar service. We have seen many positive reviews about Indiana Memorial, and we are left wondering why our experience was so different. Was it due to the need for financial assistance or something else entirely? Bob’s apology, while given, was neither sincere nor adequate. The way my family was treated was unacceptable, and we deserve answers. We expect a response from your management addressing these concerns, as well as what steps will be taken to prevent other grieving families from experiencing this level of mistreatment. I forgot to mention that Mr.Thruston still had fingerprint ink on his hands that wasn’t cleaned off.

Our experience at Indiana Memorial was wonderful. The facility is very nice and more than met our needs. What was extraordinary was the owner and his staff. We were treated with the utmost care and respect by everyone. I would gladly recommend Indiana Memorial for anyone who is making final arrangements for a loved one.

From the start of the process to till now, Travis and his staff have made sure things went well while going through this process. After my mother passed between texts for updates or after calls Travis made sure to keep me posted on things along with answer any of my questions.

How honors are coordinated

Military funeral honors are guaranteed at no cost for any veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
