Our family worked with the staff in the summer in order to plan the arrangements for our father. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating. Wren did a great job of keeping us on task as we walked though the steps that needed to be taken. His patience was exemplary during a difficult and confusing time. The professionalism and gentle and wise guidance, in addition to the masterful handling of the actual funeral and burial was well done. There was no issues with timing or with the direction for all of us on such an emotional day. Our mom was so respected and handled graciously. I cannot say enough about the service, compassion and care we experienced.

We could not have been happier with our experience with Huff and Lakjer. Wren was compassionate, professional, and kind. There was a ‘showroom’ of caskets so we could pick the one that was perfect for my dad. We had requests that my father look impeccable as he did when he was living, and they did a great job honoring that request. Every detail was thoroughly thought out and prepared…the mass cards, the death certificate, the flowers, the burial…just to name a few. The staff was even happy to answer questions that we had afterwards. We highly recommend the quality service provided by Huff and Lakjer, especially during times of unimaginable sadness.

Cannot say enough about our experience with Huff & Lakjer. Everything from beginning to end was excellent. Staff was so nice and Wren was so caring and helpful. Also my mother looked beautiful. Who ever does makeup and hair is amazing. Thank you so much for all you had done. Chris shanaman (Thomson)

In anticipation of my sister's passing, her daughter and I contacted Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home. We were greeted by Wendy who made us feel comfortable and at ease introducing us to Madison who would be our guide throughout the planning process and burial. Madison listened to our wishes and then very gently guided us in our thinking about what Huff & Lakjer could do for us. Thanks to her guidance, my sister's funeral went smoothly, allowing her family and friends to be totally present.

This is a beautiful funeral home from the outside But when it came to our Loved one; They wanted to charge $600.00 for a viewing of her last earthly remains before being cremated. The family traveled from different cities when we heard of her Transition. We are not a rich family except rich in Love. So a lot of us didn’t get closure. All we wanted as a family was to kiss and touch her to say goodbye. We didn’t need a formal wait. We asked several times just to see her physical remains. But we were refused by the staff. This was very hard on her sibling and children that flew in to say goodbye. Her body wasn’t taken to the morgue it went straight to this funeral home. She was loved and will be thoroughly missed in our hearts. The funeral home should take in consideration the feelings of the family and realize that all people don’t have money. $600.00 is a lot of money for many people. The $3,000 plus for the cremation was a struggle for our family. Before you allow this funeral home to pick up your love one physical remains. Check out the cost of all their charges. I can’t say how insensitive this funeral home was to my family needs for closure because of our limited income.

How honors are coordinated

Military funeral honors are guaranteed at no cost for any veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
