Expressing our deepest gratitude for the kindness and sympathy my family received during an extremely difficult time. They helped ease the process of making decisions that myself and my family were not prepared to make. The memorial service was beautifully handled and a memorable tribute to my husband. Just wanted to personally thank Peter and the staff at the FitzGerald-Sommer Funeral Home. Peter worked with us on a daily basis to help my family and I get through our recent loss. When we left the initial arrangements he assured us that he would take care of everything, and he did. Peter went above and beyond so that we could try to gather our thoughts for a few days before the service. He inconvenienced himself so that we wouldn’t be. The service was beautiful and all we had to do was show up. He made the whole process so simple. Thank you again to Peter, Rich, and Weezie!

Excellent service and consideration for my family. We used this funeral home twice, nine years apart, but both experiences were high quality. They made the departed appear humane and at peace, made beautiful holy cards, and fixed any concerns my family had. Would highly recommend to their services to anyone.

We could not have been happier with Fitzgerald Sommer Funeral Home. In both burials they have handled for my family they have been professional and kind. As an example when we were not satisfied with the flight transportation for our daughters burial, they drove her more than 6 hours to assure she was treated with respect. I would recommend them highly.

I HIGHLY suggest someplace else. The funeral director was robotic, she did not listen to instructions regarding obituary placement which resulted in astronomical upcharges for my family, there was no quiet background music during the viewing or the funeral, no help at all regarding flowers, immediate family was offered tiny bottles of water in a beach cooler behind a wall during the viewing, there were crazy expensive charges for a limousine, funeral procession, and staff to handle a funeral procession that was not even planned because the decedent was being cremated, charges for a van for flower transportation or something that also wasn't part of the equation...I could go on and on. I'm sure my dad and my sister have additional complaints I've not listed here. Save yourself from further grief - find another funeral home.

How honors are coordinated

Military funeral honors are guaranteed at no cost for any veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
