Keith was very thorough and made rhe entire process seamless. His attention to detail was second to none and he made sure our father was honored the way he deserved to be. The facility may be "outdated" but I am so glad we choose this funeral home. We dealt with another FH, very well known in the Western NY area, and they weren't as thorough or thoughtful, yet their pricing was double. I highly recommend Keith and Smolerak Funeral Home for your loved ones.

Smolarek funeral home was amazing when we lost our 7 year old son. We are living in Idaho and we flew home with him. Keith personally dealt with me over the phone to make all the arrangements and pick my son up at the airport within a few minutes of our arrival. They made every effort to make the situation as easy as possible. At the gravesite the cemetery messed up the placement of the tent for the service. Keith was running back and forth to get everything set up in 80 degree heat. Their dedication is amazing and they will help guide you through the whole proces .

Even with all the COVID restrictions in place, the Smolarek funeral home made us feel comfortable and assured throughout the memorial process. The entire team of people that they had working to assist and ease us through the process were professional and wonderful to our family. I am glad we chose them during these difficult times.

Absolutely insensitive experience. My grandmother passed in the morning and they came by in the afternoon. We were met with the smallest “my condolences” followed by a bunch of abrasive business-minded questions (asked to my grandfather who just lost his wife) all while my grandma was 5 feet away in front of us. We asked for 5 minutes to talk about this between our family and were met with an unpleasant “fine”. Our whole family is at a loss for words for what we experienced. I truly hope this was a one-off experience and employees, otherwise I would not advise this business to anyone who just lost a loved one. I wish I could give even less stars.

Be sure to read your contract carefully and follow up with the funeral home. Months after my mother's funeral, smolarek had came after me for TWICE the price initially discussed. This was due to paperwork being incorrectly submitted to social security. I would not recommend smolarek after this situation.

How honors are coordinated

Military funeral honors are guaranteed at no cost for any veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
