Staci at Boyd’s Funeral Home recently helped us preplan a funeral for our father. She was so helpful and kind. I would highly recommend her and this business to anyone in the area needing these services.

Where do I even start! My grandmothers funeral was a total dumpster fire. From WRONG CASKET! Wrong linen in the casket and wrong clothes and they called the cops on the family because “we were hostile” because they wanted to argue with us on what was selected. We have photos of the documents and the items themselves that were selected. This was a total and complete joke! They then forced the family to pay right then and there in full before having the service when a life insurance policy was to be turned over to them. I hope they go out of business. Or Atleast get someone in charge that can run a business!! Our grandmother did NOT deserve any of this nonsense!

My mother-in-law and many of her church friends were on a prepaid funeral plan in which Boyd's was the servicing provider. After contacting them for a month about setting up services while she was in hospice care out of state they never returned phone calls and only days before her passing did they contact us and were "friendly" but not at all helpful. We ended up having to use another provider in the area who genuinely cared about getting her services planned. Boyd's did not seem like a very ethical or empathetic company. I would not recommend them under any circumstances.

Boyd’s did not run the obituary our family submitted in the paper, and instead ran a very basic short obit. When we inquired about this they were very apologetic and gave us the option of running it the following week (after the services) for free or taking what we should have paid for the obituary we submitted off of the total. We felt this was fair and opted to run it the following week for free. When it came time to pay the bill they went back on their word, stating they could not afford to absorb that $1000 as their business was not doing well. It’s no surprise it’s not doing well if this is how they treat their clients. So disappointed in their lack of professionalism and ethics. Will never use again and do not recommend.

After the passing of my mother in law this past week, Boyds went above ans beyond making sure we were completely cared for as her family, and did a beautiful job caring for her. They were accepting of our many changes throughout the process, and never made them out to be a big deal. Thank you for making this time of grieving easier for us!

How honors are coordinated

Military funeral honors are guaranteed at no cost for any veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
