Christopher and Elizabeth handled my wife’s funeral quickly, efficiently and with grace and dignity. They were very responsive to our family’s needs and have kept in-touch afterwards just in case.

We were shocked and saddened when advised to make funeral plans for Mom. Called Ahearn and Chris met with us the next day. He had done his homework as to where the family plot was, who Mom was, etc. He kindly and professionally led us through a most difficult process and handled everything from contacting town officials, filling out tons of paperwork, making arrangements for the death certificate, doing a first draft of an obituary, and working with our luncheon venue and church rector. Through the process we were numb and it was not possible for us to take care of all these details - nor would we have thought to do some of them. Chris and team executed a perfect and caring plan that was flawless. Then, there were the little things that counted too such as having a pitcher of cool, fruit infused water for the family in the receiving line, etc. After, the celebration of life, Chris and team also followed up with us to see how we were. This was a very nice and caring extra step that was appreciated. Lastly, the Ahearn Funeral home is conveniently located with a large and accessible parking lot. The home itself is nicely furnished and presents a calming atmosphere unlike so many other funeral homes that seem to have cast off Victorian furniture and an 1800s depressing look. Overall, we were very pleased with our experience and so very glad that we selected Ahearn.

What a great experience! I was trying to transfer my father into a urn I had purchased and was having a hard time fitting the ashes in. Chris had helped me right away! I pulled in the parking lot out of nowhere asking for help. He didn't hesitate to assist me immediately very kind and respectful! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for help with laying someone special to rest. Also a very beautiful funeral home.

How honors are coordinated

Military funeral honors are guaranteed at no cost for any veteran discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. The funeral home arranges the honors detail by contacting the deceased's last unit or the nearest active-duty installation of the appropriate branch and submitting the DD-214 to verify eligibility.

For requests less than 72 hours from service time, families can call the Department of Defense's expedited honors line at 1-877-MIL-HONR (1-877-645-4667). See the full honors protocol.
